John Sweet

IT WILL ALWAYS BE THE SEASON OF FAMINE SOMEWHERE

a child left to die
in a locked room
and i know this town

i have stood on
this street

have placed my hand up
to block out the sun

and it will always be
the season
of famine somewhere

the rivers will
run dry or they will
run red with blood and
the dogs will always
be thirsty

and the child is found
only days after
my own son is born and
the clocks all
continue
to run

not because they
want to but
because this is all
they know
