Born in India and raised in England, Madhura Chivate now lives in upstate New York. She is currently a junior at Binghamton University majoring in Creative Writing and Philosophy. She is mainly interested in reading work that deals with issues of race and ethnicity, her favorite writers being Amy Tan and Anita Desai.
Madhura always dreamed of becoming an astronaut but after taking high school physics decided that it was not the career for her. Instead, one of these days she hopes to go to law school. When she is not scribbling away furiously, Madhura enjoys spending time with her friends and family. She also likes chick flicks, sappy songs, and has somehow developed curious obsession with writing in the third person, telling inappropriate jokes at inappropriate times, and chasing after emotionally unavailable men.
