Shisa Poet

ON BEING ASKED TO SEND
MY PHOTO FOR A BIO ON THE WEB

A haiku view calls
through my morning window

     Black and white day
     Magpie in a bare birch
     November

could not speak
truer in a photo. Rooftop
aerials, passing cars
and every shade of grey
will steal attention.

A poet's picture
lies about her poem
-- hard-rock maybe when her song
was C&W, or tasting of a different
fruit, her head cropped black, her poem
blonde. Her photo smells of silver polish
when her words are clean clothes
drying, it feels like desert sand
when she wrote green moss
under your hand.
