The Sundress Academy for the Arts is excited to present Evelyn Berry, Chiagoziem Jideofor, and Hale Mueller for a reading on October 22nd from 7:00-9:00 PM EST. This event will be held at Pretentious Beer Co in Knoxville, Tennessee. There will be an open mic for LGBTQIA+ readers to follow!

Evelyn Berry is a trans, Southern writer, editor, and educator. She’s the author of Grief Slut (Sundress Publications, 2024) and Buggery (Bateau Press, 2020), winner of the BOOM Chapbook Prize. She’s a recipient of a 2023 National Endowment for the Arts Poetry Fellowship, 2022 Dr. Linda Veldheer Memorial Prize, 2019 Broad River Prize for Prose, and 2018 Emrys Poetry Prize, among other honors. Her work has appeared in Beloit Poetry Journal, South Carolina Review, Gigantic Sequins, Raleigh Review, Taco Bell Quarterly, and elsewhere. She is the founder of Ecstatic Stanzas, which offers creative services including performance, workshops, writing coaching, editorial feedback, copyediting, creative marketing, and more.

Chiagoziem Jideofor is Queer and Igbo. Her debut collection, local remedies, was recently published by Host Publications, and her poems have appeared or are scheduled to appear in The Hopkins Review, Hayden’s Ferry Review, Poetry, Michigan Quarterly Review, Passages North, South Carolina Review, Waxwing, Poetry Daily, Callaloo, and elsewhere.

Hale Mueller is a creator of short fiction, interactive fiction, and illustrations based in Michigan. Their work explores the monstrous, intimate, divine, and transformative through a queer lens. He is interested in speculative fiction and interactivity as tools to explore identity, isolation, and agency. Their work has been published in iO Literary Journal, beestung, and Prismatica Magazine.
