May Lee-Yang is a poet, playwright, prose writer, and performance artist. Her writing has been published in Water~Stone Literary Review, Nimrod Journal, and the anthologies Bamboo Among the Oaks: Contemporary Writing by Hmong Americans, What We Hunger For: Refugee and Immigrant Stories About Food and Family, How Do I Begin? A Hmong American Literary Anthology. Her theater-based works include The Korean Drama Addict’s Guide to Losing Your Virginity and Confessions of a Lazy Hmong Woman.  She has received grants and fellowships from the Hedgebrook, Kundiman, The Playwright Center McKnight Fellowship in Playwriting, the Bush Leadership Fellowship, the Minnesota State Arts Board, the National Performance Network, the Midwestern Voices and Visions Residency Award, the Loft Literary Center, and the Ordway Sally Award for Arts Access. She is a co-founder of Funny Asian Women Kollective (FAWK), a group that uses comedy to combat the dehumanization and invisibility of Asian women. She holds an MFA in Creative Writing from The University of Minnesota.
